EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPER:

Designed Interactive Exhibit 1989-1990

for the Cleveland Children’s Museum

“Music out of the Ordinary” exhibition helped children learn sound theory by making and studying musical instruments throughout history and cultures.

300,000 families interacted within the exhibit

Wrote and Illustrated an Earth Science book 1990- 1992

for the United States Geological Survey

“What’s Under Your Feet?” was developed for children from fourth grade up, and for families and teachers, containing dozens of enrichment activities that were children focused geology developed from a college textbook.

The Colorado School of Mines continues to sell the book today.

Developed Science-oriented WONDERlabs 1992- present

These interactive learning labs have been set up in many preschool and elementary schools throughout the Cleveland area suburbs.

By using modular designs, I was able to custom build labs for over 15 schools to meet their curriculum needs.

Designed and Scripted electronic play patterns for toys 2006-2008

For Micro Systems Development to help children learn through play.

OTHER:

1970-1999 Enrichment Specialist, preschool teachers, crafty Cuties Preschool Enrichment centers in three suburbs in the Cleveland area. Trained teachers and created the materials for Mom and Tot classes.

1982-1990 (Individualized Workshops)

Freelance Educator Arts & Science developed workshops to instruct teachers on how to set up creative learning centers in classrooms. TRW sent me around the country presenting these from Mesa Arizona, to Las Vegas, Fairfax, VA. Birmingham, Alabama

1989-1992 Developed and Illustrated book: “What’s Under your Feet?” US Geological Survey, and a poster “Scientists Make Things Happen.”

1993-1995 Early Childhood Conference presenter,

Ohio Association for the Education of Young Children (OAEYC), and national NAEYC doing workshops on promoting Science, Art and Math (“The Best in the land of S.A.M.”).

Workshops for the Ohio Kindergarten - Primary yearly Conferences at Ohio State University. Presented a variety of workshops on creative ways to help children learn in non-conventional ways: (e.g. learning centers, writing, art)

1992-1995 Art Teacher Beck center for the Performing Arts, Orange Art Center

- present- art instructor Cleveland Heights and Shaker heights Recreation Centers.

1995-1996 DOD for DARPA, Evaluator:

CAETI Project (Computer Aided Education and Training Intuitive) traveled to various colleges evaluating programs being developed for computer education around the world in schools on our military bases. Also, evaluated commercial programs for kids and wrote reports on how computers should be used in schools, and did a report on how computers could enhance teachers. I was asked to make sure that what was being developed at the colleges would translate to the teachers and students and they would be able to comprehend and keep the programs age- appropriate.

1992- present Freelance teacher Developer WONDERlabs, modular centers that are brought to schools around the Cleveland suburban area. These units promote science activities and incorporate art and literacy for children in elementary schools.

2003-2007 Birthday Party Coordinator/Developer for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Created 4 different parties for young children using science and art.
